Klaus Iohannis – The Launch of the Presidential Program – Speech by Cosmin Marinescu
Today, economic policy tends to involve much politics and little, too little, economics. At the same time, the economy is answering politics with more and more distrust. There exists the fear that, when the government gives you something with one hand, it will come, eventually after elections, and take it with both hands. In my opinion, the main problem is still related to clarifying the role of the state in society. I believe that the state is currently trying to do more than it affords, sometimes more than it should or, rather, something different than it should do. In this respect, we must rethink the role of the state, by decreasing its presence in the economy and enforcing its institutional presence, as a guarantor of individual rights. Only this way we will be able to develop a strong private sector, autonomous from political power, that is capable to guarantee real, long-lasting prosperity.
